    3-Mode Presses

The Multipak 3-Mode concept merges the anvil press, the conventional upper/lower opposed-punch, and the double action press into one unit. The resulting unique press retains all the capabilities and advantages of each parent press (modes one and two) and provides a third mode with previously impossible capabilities. The precision of anvil pressing, and the multilevel capability of conventional pressing combine to produce parts with forms on both top and bottom with no flash - carbide cutters and tool inserts that need little or no grinding. These and other complete parts in carbide, ferrite and ceramic can now be readily produced in high volume.

      1 PRESS = 3 PRESSES

      1. Anvil Pressing - Anvil and lower punches in multiple-action tool capsule (no upper punches). Simple parts.
      2. Conventional - Upper and lower punches (no anvil). Parts multi-leveled both sides.
      3. Combined - Uses anvil and upper and lower punches simultaneously. Complex parts.

Speed and economy of anvil pressing for most parts, versatility of conventional pressing when needed, sharp edge capability obtainable in no other way - and conversion from mode to mode in minutes! Change of a simple cam segment converts press from anvil operation to upper and lower punch operation or anvil/upper punch operation. (Special cams available for modified upper punch motion.)

Conventional Mode features unique inner punch motion.

In addition to normal thickness and weight controls built into the press, the tool capsule has an independent thickness and weight adjustment for inner punch fill to insure uniform density of multilevel parts and reduce part distortion during sintering.

    Additional features of 3-Mode Presses

    • All the advantages of anvil pressing in mode one
    • Conventional pressing when needed (mode two)
    • Previously unattainable accuracy, economy and high production rates for complex parts in mode three
    • Capabilities of three kinds of presses for price of one
    • Unprecedented versatility
